Sagamore Farm | Blackburn Architecture
Glyndon, MD
“Sagamore Farm, the historic home to Native Dancer, is a thoroughbred horse-breeding farm owned originally by Alfred G. Vanderbilt, II. The current owner [founder of Under Armour, Kevin Plank] plans to restore the farm to its former world-class status. Blackburn provided architectural services for the renovation of two existing barns, which includes a 16-stall foaling barn and a 20-stall broodmare barn. The project incorporates several LEED elements, such as the reuse of original building materials and passive design techniques to create natural lighting and ventilation that reduce the energy demand of the buildings. In 2011, Blackburn provided architectural design services for a new 24-stall training barn, which recently completed construction.”
